PRODUCT DETAILS

Product Details

Rose essential oil, also known as rose otto or attar of roses, is a highly prized and fragrant essential oil derived from the petals of various species of roses, primarily Rosa damascena and Rosa centifolia. Here are some technical details about rose essential oil:

1.Extraction Method: Rose essential oil is typically extracted through a process called steam distillation, which involves passing steam through the rose petals to release the aromatic compounds. The steam is then condensed, and the resulting mixture of water and oil is separated, with the rose essential oil being collected.

2.Chemical Composition: The chemical composition of rose essential oil can vary depending on the species of rose and the geographical origin. However, it generally contains a complex mixture of compounds, including:

3.Monoterpenes: These are aromatic compounds such as citronellol, geraniol, and nerol, which contribute to the floral and rosy fragrance of the oil.

4.Sesquiterpenes: These are larger, more complex aromatic compounds that provide depth and complexity to the scent of the oil.

5.Phenethyl alcohol: This compound adds a sweet, floral note to the aroma of the oil.

6.Esters: Esters are responsible for the fruity undertones found in rose essential oil.

7.Color and Appearance: Rose essential oil is typically pale yellow to yellowish-green in color. It has a thin consistency and is liquid at room temperature. The oil is highly fragrant and possesses a strong, rich, and sweet floral scent.

8.Uses: Rose essential oil is widely used in perfumery, aromatherapy, and skincare products due to its delightful aroma and potential therapeutic properties. It is often used to promote relaxation, reduce stress and anxiety, and enhance mood. In skincare, rose essential oil is known for its soothing and moisturizing properties and is used in various products such as creams, lotions, and serums.

9.Caution: As with any essential oil, it is important to exercise caution when using rose essential oil. It is highly concentrated and should be diluted before topical application. Some individuals may be sensitive or allergic to the oil, so a patch test is recommended before using it extensively. Pregnant women should consult their healthcare provider before using rose essential oil.

It's worth noting that specific technical details, such as the exact chemical composition, can vary based on factors such as the rose species, growing conditions, and extraction methods used.

Calculations

HOW TO CALCULATE FOR 3% ESSENTIAL OIL WITH 50ML CARRIER OIL :

CALCULATION FOR MANDELIC ACID: 3 × 50 ÷ 100 = 1.5 ML

CALCULATION FOR CARRIER OIL : 50-1.5 = 48.5 ML

ONE CAN INCREASE THE PERCENTAGE OF ESSENTIAL OIL IF THE SKIN IS NOT SENSITIVE.

How to use (Formulation Guide)

Formulating with essential oils requires careful consideration of their properties, safety guidelines, and appropriate dilution rates. Here's a general guide on how to formulate with essential oils:

1) Understand the properties and benefits of essential oils:
-Familiarize yourself with the properties, scent profiles, and potential benefits of different essential oils. Each essential oil has unique characteristics and therapeutic properties, so it's important to select oils that align with your desired formulation goals.

2)Choose a suitable carrier/base:
-Essential oils should not be used undiluted on the skin. They need to be diluted in a carrier/base before use.
-Common carrier oils include jojoba oil, sweet almond oil, coconut oil, grapeseed oil, and olive oil. These oils provide a medium for diluting essential oils and also offer their own benefits for the skin.

3) Determine the dilution rate:
-The dilution rate refers to the amount of essential oil to be added to a given amount of carrier/base oil. Dilution rates depend on various factors, including the purpose of the formulation, the intended use (body, face, hair), and the age and sensitivity of the person using the product.
-For adults, a common dilution rate is 2% to 3%, which equates to 12-18 drops of essential oil per 30 ml (1 oz) of carrier/base oil. However, certain essential oils may require lower dilutions due to their potency or potential skin sensitivity. Consult reliable resources or guidelines for specific essential oils.

4) Combine the essential oil and carrier/base oil:
-In a clean, dry container, add the desired amount of carrier/base oil.
-Add the appropriate number of drops of essential oil based on the chosen dilution rate. Remember to refer to guidelines and safety information for each essential oil to ensure you stay within safe limits.
-Stir or shake the mixture well to thoroughly combine the oils.

5) Optional additions:
-You can enhance your formulation by adding other ingredients like vitamin E oil (as a natural preservative), herbal extracts, or other oils with specific benefits (e.g., rosehip oil for anti-aging properties).
-Be cautious about the compatibility of additional ingredients and their potential interactions with essential oils. Research and conduct small-scale tests before making larger batches.

6) Store and label:
-Transfer the formulation to a clean, airtight container for storage. Amber glass bottles are often used to protect the oils from light exposure.
-Label the container with the date, ingredients used, and any specific instructions or precautions.

7)Safety considerations:
-Always follow safety guidelines and avoid excessive use or high concentrations of essential oils, as they can cause skin irritation or sensitization.
-Consider the specific safety precautions for each essential oil, including any contraindications or precautions related to pregnancy, children, or specific health conditions.
-Conduct patch tests before using the formulation on a larger area of the body to check for any adverse reactions.

Remember to consult reputable sources, books, or professional aromatherapists for more detailed information on specific essential oils, their properties, and suitable dilution rates.
